Marine & boat electrical

Nothing worse than a boat that won’t start at the ramp. Marine electrics live in a harsher environment than road vehicles — salt, damp and vibration all take their toll — and get treated accordingly. We work on both 12V and 24V systems.

Signs you need this

  • Won’t start, or starter is sluggish
  • Navigation or anchor lights not working
  • Bilge pump not engaging automatically
  • Corrosion visible on battery terminals or connectors
  • Electronics (sounder, VHF) losing power intermittently

What we do

Marine electrical work accounts for the corrosive environment — connections are marine-rated and properly sealed, not just automotive-grade parts bolted in. Starting and house battery systems on boats are tested and wired with the same care as a 4WD dual-battery setup, since a flat battery at the ramp is more than an inconvenience.

What it costs

Depends on the fault and the boat’s setup. We diagnose and estimate before starting any repair.

Questions

Do you do free battery testing for boat batteries?
Yes, the same free battery test applies to boat batteries.
Why does marine wiring corrode faster than car wiring?
Salt air and damp are far harsher on connections than a normal road environment, which is why marine-rated parts and proper sealing matter.
Can you fit a second battery for accessories on my boat?
Yes, sized and wired for what you’re running.
