Wiring & loom repair

Chewed wiring, a fuse that keeps blowing, a loom that’s corroded or been badly patched by someone else — wiring problems are fiddly, but they’re exactly the kind of job that rewards someone who’ll actually trace the circuit properly.
Signs you need this
- A fuse blows repeatedly, sometimes immediately after replacing it
- Visible chew marks, exposed wire, or a burnt smell
- Multiple unrelated electrical faults appearing together
- Corrosion or green buildup visible on connectors
- A previous repair or patch job that’s come loose or failed
What we do
We trace the affected circuit using wiring diagrams for the specific vehicle, rather than replacing components on a guess. Repairs are soldered and properly insulated rather than just twisted and taped, and rodent damage gets assessed for how much of the loom is affected before deciding whether to repair a section or the whole run.
What it costs
Cost depends entirely on how much of the loom is affected and how accessible it is — a single damaged wire is a small job, a rodent-chewed loom under the dash is a bigger one. We diagnose first and estimate before starting.
What we work on
Cars · 4WDs and utes · Light trucks · Farm and lifestyle machinery
Questions
- Rats have been at my wiring — can you fix it?
- Yes, this is a common job. We assess how much of the loom is affected and repair or replace accordingly.
- Why does replacing the fuse not fix it?
- A fuse blowing is a symptom of a short circuit somewhere downstream. Replacing the fuse without fixing the short just blows the next one.
- Can you fix a wiring job someone else already attempted?
- Yes — we see this often and can assess and properly redo it.
- How do you find the fault without pulling the whole loom apart?
- We use wiring diagrams and circuit testing to narrow down the affected section before opening anything up.
