Signs you need this

- Something worked yesterday and doesn’t today, for no obvious reason

What we do
We start by plugging in a diagnostic scan tool to read fault codes and live data from the vehicle’s computer systems, then follow that up with a multimeter and, where needed, an oscilloscope to trace the actual circuit — because a fault code tells you where the symptom showed up, not always where the problem is. Intermittent faults get wiggle-tested and load-tested rather than guessed at. You’ll get a plain-language explanation of what’s actually wrong before anything gets fixed.
What it costs
A diagnostic scan is $75, including GST. If the fault needs further investigation or repair beyond that, we’ll talk you through what we’ve found and confirm a price before doing any further work.

- How long does a diagnostic check take?
- It depends on the fault. Straightforward ones can be sorted quickly; intermittent faults that only show up sometimes can take longer to properly trace. We’ll always call you to talk through timing once we’ve had a look.
- Will you tell me what’s wrong before you fix it?
- Yes. We diagnose first, explain what we’ve found in plain language, and confirm a price before starting any repair.
- What if the fault doesn’t show up while it’s with you?
- This happens with intermittent electrical faults. We’ll talk you through what we can do — including things to watch for so we can catch it next time.
- Can I book if my check engine light isn’t on right now?
- Yes — intermittent lights and stored fault codes are often still readable even when the light isn’t currently on.
